35 Year Old Nigerian Bags Life Imprisonment For Raping Girfriend

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Monday sentenced a 35-year-old man, Tope Odeyemi, to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of rape.

Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye convicted him after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman and inflicting grievous bodily harm on her which led to her admission in a hospital.

According to Punch, the prosecution, led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, told the court that the father of two committed the offence on September 4, 2014 in Iyin Ekiti.

The prosecution called five witnesses to prove his case while the defence counsel, Mr. Taiwo Adeloye, called two witnesses.

The state counsel also urged the court to convict Odeyemi based on the evidence laid before the court.

Adeloye urged the court to dismiss all the evidence of the prosecution against his client, describing them as weak.

The trial judge in his judgment pronounced the accused guilty based on his confessional statement and other corroborative evidence.

Tonto Dikeh's Alleged Drug Problem, Lies Exposed

The drama between Tonto Dikeh and her estranged husband, Churchill Olakunle is a long way from over.

An unnamed source close to Churchill has discredited Tonto's claims that she bought two new cars herself and passed it off as gifts from her husband. The source told journalists also said that Tonto had a drug problem and was sometimes very violent.

"They are all lies. If Churchill had ever laid hands on Tonto, she would have photo evidence, that's the kind of person she is. She would have taken photos. She was the violent one. She set fire to his clothes and destroyed property worth millions in their home

''She claimed he never bought her all those gifts but she returned the Lexus jeep he bought for her and kept the Prado. She drives a Prado, can she afford to buy one herself? She just became bitter. And she was always threatening him, saying she would go online and release lies about him and ruin his life and career because for some reason, she thinks she made him.

''Olakunle is not perfect but he's not the devil she's painting him. This is a man who bought a G-Wagon for her dad. She was still using drugs and Olakunle was seeking help for her as he was committed to their relationship.

How We Planned To Take Yellow Buses Off Road — LASG

Following the Rumor going viral that the Lagos State Government are planning to take off yellow buses (danfo) on lagos road, the state ministry of transport disown the rumor and further explains the plan of the government concerning the buses

Abuja Prostitutes Face Court For Fighting Over Customer

Three commercial sex workers have been docked at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for attacking and causing grievous hurt on their colleagues.

Daily Trust reports that the suspects, Helen Gabriel, Joy Johnson and Ene Ahmed, all residents of Jabi Masallachi, Abuja, were arraigned on a two-count charge following a report that they attacked one Joy Opara and three others during a fight over a male patron.

The police prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu , told the court that case was reported at the Utako Police Station on February 21, 2017, after a fight broke out between the prostitutes.

Dalhatu said on that date, the complainant reported that the defendants formed a common intention and attacked her and her colleagues at Eden Garden, Utako, Abuja, and inflicted serious injuries on their bodies with razor blades.

He said the attack was due to a little misunderstanding over a customer. Dalhatu added that the complainants were taken to Wuse General Hospital, Abuja, for treatment.

The prosecutor noted that 'the first defendant was the one who used the razor blade on the girls, while the second and third defendant were her girls.'

When the charges were read to them, the first defendant, Gabriel pleaded guilty while the second and third defendants pleaded not.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the second and third defendants in the sum of N30,000 and one surety each in like sum while ordering that the Gabriel be remanded in prison custody until the complainant was discharged from hospital and adjourned the case to March 7, 2017, for further hearing.Three commercial sex workers have been docked at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for attacking and causing grievous hurt on their colleagues.

"Take It Or Leave It, Osinbajo Betters Buhari" — PDP Youths

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Frontier (PDPYF) has fired back at the Presidency for branding as “mischief makers” Nigerians who hold the opinion that Acting-President, Yemi Osinbajo, within 40 days has performed better than President Muhammadu Buhari did in 20 months.

The opposition youth group, in a sarcastic series of tweets published on its official twitter handle (@PDPNYF), challenged the claims made by President Muhammadu Buhari’s political adviser, Babafemi Ojudu, that the peace-building efforts of the federal government in the Niger-Delta and the recent measures put in place to arrest the downward slipping of the Naira against the Dollar in the parallel market were directives Buhari gave from London.

They insisted that President Buhari’s cabal was the problem plaguing the country.

The PDP youths said: “The tide suddenly changed when President Muhammadu Buhari travelled out for health vacation. Nigerians are convinced and his version of the APC is the problem.

“Buhari that was well and couldn’t address the Naira exchange rate to Dollar now giving such instructions from the sick bed? Impossible.

“Buhari that was well and okay and couldn’t pay a visit to Niger Delta now giving instructions to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to take such action. Drama.”

Police Put Off Uniform And Flee Away As Heavily Armed Robbers Storm Bank In Delta State

Photo for illustrative purpose
There was pandemonium, on Monday, in Asaba, Delta State capital, when a gang of five armed robbers stormed a branch of an old generation bank in an attempt to rob a customer who had come to the bank deposit huge sum of money.

However, the customer, a middle-aged man, was shot in the chest region at close range because of his refusal to let go of the bag of money.

An eyewitness told Sun that the incident occurred at about 8.15am, adding that residents in the area scampered for safety at the sound of the gun.

Besides, about five policemen stationed at the bank premises took to their heels during the operation, with three of them removing their uniforms in order not to be identified as security operatives by the enemies of state.

According to the eyewitness, the bandits who operated in a blue Golf car had been around the bank’s neighbourhood for over an hour before the arrival of their target who came to the bank in a commercial tricycle popularly known as Keke Napep.

Although the victim later gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital, his rare display of courage ensured that the robbers did not cart away the money as he staggered into the bank premises after he was shot.

Meanwhile, the victim who was in the pool of his blood was said to have been rushed to the hospital by the bank officials, who gotten hold of the money, buts gave up the ghost on the way. His corpse was deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the incident said the matter was already being investigated.

President Buhari Surrounded By Vultures – Sen. Shehu Sani

The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Sen. Shehu Sani has claimed that majority of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet members are “vultures and hyenas” for refusing to declare their assets publicly.

The lawmaker made the assertion over the weekend while touring the late Malam Aminu Kano Musuem in Kano State.

He noted that the failure of the President’s cabinet members to declare their assets shows that they do not believe in the current anti-graft war.

Sani urged the President to reshuffle his cabinet immediately he returns from the United Kingdom, UK, where he is currently on medical vacation.

According to him, “Buhari is an island in his government and by the time he is back, he needs to disinfect and fumigate his government because in his anti-corruption crusade, he is the only person who believes in the anti-corruption war, people within his corridors of power are simply Buhari in their faces, but anti-Buhari at hearts.

“Now, tell me, how a president (Buhari) who publicly declared his own assets; and apart from him and his vice-president, nobody, even within his own close kitchen cabinet or outside veranda cabinet could publicly declare their assets. This shows the disbelief in the style of his own life and his own manner of leadership. President Buhari is surrounded by vultures and hyenas.”

JAMB Introduces 4th Choice, Scraps Awaiting Result

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced that students will no longer be able to secure admission into higher institutions while awaiting their O’level results.

JAMB said this was part of its restructuring in preparation for the 2017 UTME higher institution examination.

This means candidates must sit and obtain the results of either West African Examination Council school examination, WAEC, or National Examination Council, NECO, before admission.

JAMB also introduced a fourth choice of school, but said candidates can apply to only one government-owned university.

In a statement by its spokesperson, JAMB also announced the introduction of fourth choice of higher institution during application by candidates.

The statement reads: “In the cause of conducting admission exercise, many institutions have admitted candidates on merit only for them to discover that such candidates do not have qualified O’levels results or the right combination for admission and had to delete and start the process all over again. With this, they would have denied other qualified candidates the opportunities for admissions.

“This we are addressing by ensuring that no candidate is henceforth recommended without his O’levels result being supplied. To achieve this, JAMB will insist that candidates supply their result on its website during registration or later, but before admissions commences for them to be considered for admissions. We believe this will allow only qualified candidates to be considered for admissions.

“Candidates and their parents are also to note that the Board has restructured the registration platform to allow for only one choice of Public University. The new registration platform will now be first choice, second choice, third choice and fourth choice and not most preferred, preferred etc as it was.

“Candidates’ first choice can be a College, University, Innovative Enterprises Institutions or Polytechnic/Monotechnic. However, if a candidate makes a Public University his first choice, he will not have any public University to choose for 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice. He will have on the remaining three choices, a College, a Polytechnic, Private University and IEI’S. However, candidates for the 2017 UTME can now select NCE (College) or ND (Polytechnic/Monotechnic) as their 1st choice up to 3rd choice and the 4th IEI. They can select the IEI (Innovative Enterprise Institution, ND) as their 1st choice up to the 4th choice, but can only pick a public university once.

“Again, we want to inform candidates that no cyber cafĂ© will be registering candidates for our examination. On no account should any candidate patronize any cybercafĂ© for our registration. It is important to note that the Board will not deploy the use of any scratch card for the 2017 UTME registration exercise.”

4000 UNIOSUN Students Face Rustication Over Non-Payment Of Tuition Fees

The News went viral during January period after some university of Osun students' invested their money to popular ponzi scheme, MMM and this led to a bad result of not paying tuition fees, the school management gave them some weeks ultimatum to get the fee paid, the management yesterday okays the rustication of over 4,000 students of the institution who refused to pay their tuition fees within the stipulated period which would expire on 28 of February.

In a press statement issued from the Corporate Affairs Unit of the university and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr Gafar Shitu, the management of UNIOSUN said any student that failed to pay the tuition fees before the expiration of February 28, 2017 deadline would no longer be considered to be a student of the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Labode Popoola earlier told noted that students owed the university a backlog of school fees to the tune of N2billion (Two Billion Naira).

According to the statement, a total of four thousand, four hundred and ten (4,410) students have not paid their school fees whereas majority of these students have collected the money from their parents but either “invested” in the failed MMM scheme or diverted same to other purposes.

The Registrar said no fewer than 400 parents and guardians of the defaulting students have called the University helplines to report that they had long given money to their children to pay school fees.

“Students who cannot meet up with the deadline and do not want their studentship terminated may apply in writing to the school authorities to grant them leave of absence for the current semester with a sworn affidavit, pledging to make payment before resumption from the leave of absence.

The Management of UNIOSUN would no longer tolerate non-adherence to the deadlines for payment and course registration as contained in the University calendar and students handbook”.

“With regard to this current 2016/2017 academic session, late registration commenced on December 5, 2016 and lasted till December 24, 2016 when the students’ portal was automatically shut down.

However, the University Senate at its meeting of January 26, 2017 after observing that a large number of students had refused to turn up in spite of ceaseless appeals, decided that the students’ portal be reopened longer into 12th week of resumption against the four weeks stipulated in the University regulations.

The decision of the University Senate, which was adequately communicated to all the students on February 2, 2017, was to afford more students the opportunity to pay their fees with effect from 17th to 24th February, 2017, a date which was later extended till February 28, 2017”.

On 16 February, 2017, some students embarked on a protest against the enforcement of extant rules and regulations regarding fee payment and registration. Investigations show that over 90 per cent of the protesters had not registered for between two and 11 semesters, and were thus using the stipulated late registration penalty of N10, 000 as a smokescreen for their years of defaulting in fee payment and registration.

The University Senate has made it clear to the public that at no time was school fees increased and has thus decided that no unregistered students should be permitted to write the First Semester Examinations, which commence on Monday, March 6, 2017.

The Registrar said the defaulting students who do not seek for leave of absence will also have their studentship terminated.

Osinbajo Not Better Than Buhari — Presidency

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, on Monday criticized the trend in the social media of comparing President Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
Speaking with State House Press Corps, Ojudu said that without the President there could not be the Vice or Acting President.
“I think it is thoughtless. I also see it as a ploy by the opposition to cause unnecessary division. It is a joint ticket. The President and the Vice President were elected based on the manifesto of the party.
“Since they were sworn in they have been committed to implementing that manifesto.
“The same people who are saying that now are the ones who are saying that we never had an economic team; we have no policy, that we have nothing.
“It is now that the policies that we are implementing are maturing that they are seeing the result.
“It is not a question of one person doing better than the other person.
“There is nothing that has been done in this administration or since the Vice President started acting that is not something that started far back in the past.
‘’A good example is the Niger Delta initiative.
“The President called the Vice President and gave him the mandate to go to the Niger Delta and meet with everyone who is a stakeholder there, the communities where oil is produced, all the leaders of the place, talk to militants and make sure to resolve this problem to the benefit of Nigerians.
“We are losing 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, all the gas pipelines powering the turbines are being blown up and the President said that unless and until we solve this problem we will not come out of recession.
“The VP took up the mandate and went to the Niger Delta.’’
According to Ojudu, the Niger Delta dialogue is the initiative of the President, not that of the Vice President.
He said it was mischief makers who did not wish the country well that are promoting that kind of divisive ideas.
The presidential aide said that the Acting President was consulting the President almost daily in running the country.
According to him, there are things that the Vice President needs to consult the President, especially on major decisions because he is acting.
He noted that “the Acting President is in charge at present but the President is still the President no matter what’’.
He said it was incumbent on the Acting President to call on the President where there were major issues to be decided on to get his opinion.
He said the consultation did not also mean that the Acting President was not independent, adding that Osinbajo would ensure that the country was well administered.
“Again one other thing you have to see is that if you give someone a responsibility, he must also be able to show to the President that the fact of his not being around he is not going to create any vacuum.
“Even, he can then decide not to have a sleep at all through the time that the President may be away just to let him know that he is capable of ensuring that Nigeria goes on well while he is away.
“And the President could also have given a mandate, `let nothing go wrong, I believe in you, I appointed you as my Vice President, you must make sure that you do this.
“If you have somebody who is your boss and gives you an assignment, you want to impress him and you want to impress Nigerians as well.
“That for me is what has happened, not in the sense that one person is better than the other, certainly not. ’’
On the alleged propagation that the President was poisoned which appeared in the social media, the aide described the report as untrue.
He advised the media men to be careful about the information they got from the social media as there was a fake factory for fake news in Nigeria.
He said the publication about some imaginary money kept somewhere by the President which the alleged poison maker wanted to inherit was untrue.

He noted that Nigeria had a President whom no one could question his integrity in all his public and private lives adding that none could succeed in tarnishing his image.

The Nigeria-Prays-For-Buhari Competition — Reuben Abati

Reuben Abati
After the publication of my column last week, titled “I want to go to London… to see Buhari”, I received a lot of feedback from persons who were either amused or dead serious that they had been overlooked in my compilation of the list of persons who should go to London. One fellow asked:
“Abati, you left out the Miyetti Allah and the cattle herders of Nigeria.”
“Excuse me?”
“Yes, they too will like to go to London”
“With due respect, to go and herd cattle?”
“No, to visit the President and reassure him about the welfare of his cattle”
“My friend, are we talking about cattle or the health of Mr. President?”
“We are talking about everything and anything that can ensure the President’s speedy recover.”
“Speedy recovery!”
“Speedy recover!”
“My friend, it is speedy recovery, not speedy recover!”
“That is your problem. You spend too much time worrying about grammar and big words you don’t oftentimes know what to do. Look at you, you even left out local government chairmen. You left out an important organization like ALGON, the umbrella body of local government chairmen. You also did not insist that there should be a special resolution of the National Assembly in both chambers authorizing that a formal joint delegation should be sent to London to see the President, instead of the Senate President and the Speaker sneaking to London, behind every one else’s back.”
Candidly, I didn’t know what to say. But just about then, I received a text message and a phone call.
“Abati”
“Yes?”
“I don’t like that your article. An old man is ill, and you are mocking him with your pen.”
“No. You are misreading the article. That is not my message. I understand that a President is a human being. No President has supernatural immunity. It is not unusual for any human being to have a medical challenge.”
“I didn’t get that message. You sounded like you were having fun, with your article dripping with cruel sarcasm. You have to be careful how you come across. You were just busy throwing yabis up and down. Are you Fela?”
“Calm down. My point is that the President’s stay in London should not become an opportunity for eye service, which is the biggest enterprise in Nigeria. Before you know it now, everybody will start trooping to London to see the President, and that will create too many leaking buckets, a lot of waste. I tried to use the vehicle of humour and laughter to ridicule and stop that.”
“I have said my own. Maybe you should re-read the article. When they decide to do something about you, don’t just say your friends abandoned you. If you want to be a stand up comedian, make up your mind. But this one that every time you carry your pen, you’ll start making jest of serious national matters in the name of writing, well, na you sabi oh.”
No writer should be placed under pressure to explain his own message. Language is invariably embodied, iconic, symbolic, semiotic and hence open to interpretations relative to levels of perception. So, I gave up on that conversation. But I was vindicated a few days ago. Another friend called, also anxious to discuss the most important subject in Nigeria today: President Buhari’s health and absence.
“Ore, ki la ri wi, ki l’on sele, ewo lewo, omo boy”
“Abati”
“How are you?”
“Have you noticed something?”
“What?”
“Since you wrote that article on your plan to go to London, people have stopped going to London or they have stopped them. When last did you see anybody posing for a photo opportunity with Sai Baba in front of Abuja house?”
”They are probably still going. London is Nigeria’s new Holy land. It may well just be that they are no longer publicizing the visits.”
“If there is no publicity, then very few people will go. A handshake with the President shown to all Nigerians, while the President is on medical exile, can open many doors for many people.”
“Medical exile. I like that phrase.”
“Forget that. I am not here to discuss grammar. I have a business idea that I think we can discuss. What you don’t know is that some people are already exploiting the business opportunities involved in Sai Baba’s absence.”
“How?”
“I pity you. The only thing you know is to speak and write English and lift your head to the clouds. You can’t smell business. The biggest business in Nigeria today is to be seen to be loyal to President Buhari.”
“I don’t quite get the business angle.”
“This is my proposal, then. We have to do something. In this season of recession, you have to think creatively. That is the best way to beat recession. We also have to organize a solidarity rally or a prayer session for Buhari.”
“How is that a business?”
“Very strategic business”
“How?”
“First things first. Do you think all the people who have been organizing rallies and prayer sessions are doing it for fun, or free of charge, or for love?”
“I am aware that they are doing it out of love for the President. They have all said they wish him well. They are praying for his good health and for the well-being of the nation.”
“Is that why there is so much competition to pray for Buhari, then?”
“What I am aware of is that prayer sessions have been held in parts of the country, in Kano by the Governor, and the Emir, in Kaduna by the state Governor and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), In Katsina state, where 50, 000 youths gathered in Daura under the umbrella of the Buhari Youth Congress for Change. In Nasarawa, Muslim faithful from 13 local councils and 18 development units spent 4 hours praying in Lafia. Security was even provided by the Nigerian Army, the Police, the Civil Defence Corps and other government agencies. The same thing happened in Kwara State, and Jigawa where the state chapter of the Jama’atul Nasril Islam also conducted prayers.”
“I am glad you have been following the trend.”
“You should trust me. Let me also tell you that all mosques across the North have been placed in a prayer mode, under strict instructions from the Sultan. Not even the private sector is left out: The Pyramid Radio Mosque in Kano held a prayer session for Buhari, attended by over 200 Muslim faithful.”
“And you still don’t see the business opportunity in all of this?”
“No. My only concern is that Nigeria is a secular state. The Constitution says so. When we begin to involve the state in prayer sessions, we are violating the law.”
“Leave that matter. The Constitution says we are a secular state. It does not say the people must not pray for their leaders.”
“Not quite so”
“I beg. Let’s talk business. See, I have a business proposal in my head. We can beat all these people to it. Instead of all these, small, small, prayers-for-Buhari that they are organizing, we can have a grand prayer rally, at every stadium in this country. I know people who can link me up with all the big Pastors and Imams in Nigeria, and every week till President Buhari returns, we can have inter-denominational prayer rallies and vigils from one state to another.”
“But where is the business in that?”
“We will buy tickets, keep people in hotels, organize transportation from every local government to the state capital, we will put money in envelopes, pay for venues, provide refreshment, and we will ensure we surpass the prayers warriors of Nasarawa who prayed for only four hours. We will make our own 8 hours. We will also involve evangelical musicians and prayer warriors. These prayers don’t come cheap or free.”
“How? Where will the money come from?”
“I can’t give you all the details. You see this my head, it is full of business but to give you an idea, we will get the state governors and local chairmen involved, corporate Nigeria and SMEs will also be mobilized. They will bring money. They won’t want to be seen to be opposing prayer sessions for the President. They too will understand the business implications.”
“I don’t get it.”
“You still don’t get it? What don’t you get? Can’t you see that even the People’s Democratic Party and all their Governors are also talking about holding prayer sessions for the President? Last year, when the President went for an ear infection vacation, the PDP – Governors, National Assembly members and other stakeholders held a prayer session. This year, with the President now on medical exile in London, the PDP is planning an even bigger prayer session from Delta state to Bayelsa to Ekiti. Fayose who once predicted that the President would fall sick is now a Buhari prayer warrior. Bet with me, the way this thing is going, you would wake up one day and Fayose will hold a prayer rally in Ado Ekiti. I know what I am talking about.”
“I don’t know. So, why are you telling me?”
“You know people. You can provide relevant contacts and we can get this thing done.”
“But what if you don’t make any money?”
“We can’t fail. The business model in my head cannot fail. People are making gains already. Everything is not money. The President made a phone call to the Governor of Kano while a prayer session was going on at the Government House in Kano. Just 300 Imams and Islamic scholars oh, but the Governor made sure the phone call was broadcast live on all local radio stations in Kano state. Calculate the cost of that in business terms. An ordinary phone call from President Buhari at this time is worth its weight in gold. Since that phone call to Governor Ganduje, other state Governors have been falling over themselves to organize prayer sessions. The Governors of Katsina, Kebbi and Gombe have also received their own phone calls.”
“I am confused.”
“You will soon get it. The day we succeed in organizing our own prayer session, with over a million Nigerians, I will make sure President Buhari makes a direct, live telephone call to the stadium. He will mention the names of Governors, CEOs, VIPs, media executives, and the whole thing will be on skype, whatsapp, snap chat, instagram, you tube, live streaming. And the prayers will go straight to heaven, because we will make sure we invite only those pastors and imams who have been saying they have direct telephones to God.”
“There are such religious leaders in this country?”
“Yes”
“But you seem to have left out the diviners, the aborigines, the herbalists…”
“Sai Baba is a devout Muslim. We can’t bring such people to the public domain, but we’d find a way of providing for them. We’d give them cows, rams, goats, clothes, palm oil, kolanuts, alligator pepper… and they will pray and be happy in their underground covens.”
“And you, what will you do?”
“If Sai baba can just make that phone call, I will jump in the air and dance like Dekunle Ajokete.”
“But what if something goes wrong and the network connection fails. Or your phone runs out of battery.”
“A text message from Sai Baba will be just fine. If I get just that, Walahi, I will twerk publicly like Tiwa Savage.”
“Tiwa Savage? Does Mummy Jam Jam twerk also, with that her small 2G package? To twerk properly, you need 3G, 4G, or wifi Bakassi. What you are proposing sounds like Kwa-ra-pption.”
“Dey there. You think any judge will indict or convict anybody for praying for the President? Even the Judges may soon organize a prayer session for Buhari.”
“Let’s talk a bit more about this twerking business. “
“Get out. I am talking business; you are talking twerking! You have no business sense.”

Exclusive: Doctors Advised Buhari To Resign, Or Else He May...

Following the health status of Mr. President, his UK doctor had advised him to resign the presidential's position, despite repeated denial by close aides of the president, he’s hale and hearty, One Nigeria Blog can authoritatively report that an unexpected miracle might occur, "he may not complete his tenure alive if he comes back to the rigors of governing Nigeria" A very reliable source close to the corridors of power and have seen recent authentic pictures of Buhari revealed that the pictures we see sent from London are all edited, as Buhari is a shadow of himself. “The man is now a skeleton, I can tell you.
