Tinubu lacks moral right to criticise Kachikwu – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the criticism of former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu for his poor handling of the lingering fuel scarcity in the country as an internal wrangling between the        godfather and a minister of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu, in a widely reported statement on Sunday, asked the minister to apologise to Nigerians for saying he was not a magician in bringing to an
end, the fuel crisis.

But PDP, through its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, said Tinubu lacks the moral right to criticise the minister knowing the role he played in the emergence of the APC-led
Federal Government.

The party noted that as an elder statesman, what the APC National Leader should have done was to draw the minister’s attention on what he
considered his shortcomings.

The PDP also taunted the APC-led Federal Government for underestimating the petroleum situation in the country.

“If there is anybody that can condemn Kachikwu in this country it is not Bola Tinubu, knowing the antecedents and record of Bola Tinubu who was Lagos State governor. We need a credible person to do that,” the party added.

It noted that APC had promised to provide adequate petroleum products to Nigerians “without considering the implication and the economic downturn.
They were in a hurry to make some
statements with regard to petroleum and other issues of the nation.”

PDP, however, faulted the minister’s statement that he was not a magician because, according to the
party petroleum product is something that affects the country’s economy.

“It is wrong for him to say he is not a magician, it is equally bad for him as a minister to allow fuel scarcity to linger for a long time. We have the means, the government is mapping out a lot of
money from looters and other sources. So what went wrong?” PDP asked.

UK based Shoemaker urges Buhari to ban footwear importation

Adeshola Benson, a UK based shoe maker has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to impose restrictions on the importation of certain footwear into the country.

Benson said: such action will encourage local footwear manufacturers to go into mass production which will in turn have a positive effective on the economy.

Benson said he gas planned to train 100 local shoe makers as a way of ensuring Nigerians are patronizing #MadeInNigeria products

Benson who has a factory in ikorodu pointed out that his aim train shoe makers and making perfect shoes in the country.

Benson noted that local shoemakers will succeed in their enterprise if the Federal Government would allow them to make footwear for paramilitary personnel instead of resorting to importation.

“Most African countries don’t produce shoes and we have a chance to export to African countries. But if Nigeria still imports substandard shoes, it is going to have a negative effect on local production.

5 ways to avoid accident of Lagos - Ibadan express way. (Pls Share with Others)

1. Stay away from the ‘fast lane’

It the expressway, so it feels natural to kick up your gear and soar…but remember that speed
thrills and also kills. While on the expressway, keep a rein on your speed and stay in control of
your vehicle.
Also, stay away from the fast lane and instead, use
the center or right lane. Doing so ensures you
have more escape routes should a problem
suddenly arise that requires you to quickly change
lanes. Actually, most of the accidents on the
Lagos‐Ibadan expressway occur in the left lane, so
stay away already reduces your chances of being
involved. An added perk is to stay away from the
fast lane ensure that less conspicuous to the
highway patrols and will not be flagged down so
often.

2. Do not drive on drugs and alcohol

This may sound cliché but, alcohol and drugs, not
just cocaine or intoxicants like marijuana but any
kind of drug basically, alter the normal body
system and so can impair judgments as well as
slow down reflexes. Driving under the influence of
alcohol, marijuana or other drugs can cost you
your license – or your life. So many accidents that
have occurred on the expressway have been as a
result of drivers who insisted on heading out while
on drugs or alcohol. Even if you think it is just
only one drink or one smoked joint, do not take
the risk, stay of the wheel and save not just your
life, but the life of others.

3. Check your vehicle before you set out. Know its
limits.

A lot of drivers just set out with their vehicles,
without first checking to see if the engine and
brake is in perfect condition or the tires well
inflated and screwed in. This negligence puts the
driver as well as other motorist at risk. Drivers
must ensure their vehicles are in good working
condition‐ there should be no compromise on the
quality of brakes and tyres. Aside from checking
the engine, rate the performance limits of the
vehicle. Pay attention to how your particular
vehicle reacts in certain situations, how long it can
last on the road and how many people plus cargo
it can take per time. The risk of a fatal crash also
increases with
every additional passenger or luggage.

4. Ignore aggressive drivers, do not tailgate.

If you have driven past the Lagos‐Ibadan
expressway, you will be well aware of the kind of.
crazy drivers that parade the road. They are far
from courteous and flaunt road rules with no
remorse. They also like to challenge other drivers
by doing such things as speeding recklessly or
cutting other drivers off. Do not engage this kind
of drivers or try to beat them at their own game,
best thing to do is to get as far out of their way as
possible. Rather than play their games and get
them even much more infuriated, slow down and
let them pass. The quicker you can get them away
from you, the safer you will be.
Do not tailgate any other vehicle or allow others to
tailgate you. Leave a three‐second cushion
between you and the car in front of you and begin
your journey early enough so you do not have to
speed to make up time. Again, large tractor trailers
need extra space when making wide right turns,
so, stay away from the right side of anyone you
see on the expressway.

5. Lock your Mobile phones away. Avoid other in‐
car distractions.

Mobile phones are not the best companion on the
road and should only be used for emergency
purposes only. And even before being use, the
driver should cut of motion and make a parking by
the road side to take or make the call. Talking on
the phone, while driving, is straight ticket to an
accident as it is extremely distracting. If you must
use your cell phone while driving, try a
hands‐free model or enable a Bluetooth connection
with the car’s radio. It is important basically to
avoid all forms of distractions, from loud music to
doing things like eating or brushing your hair (yes,
some people who actually do these things). If you
are not concentrating solely on your driving, you
will not be prepared for anything that is up ahead
and you put yourself at risk of an accident.

Journalist jailed five years over tweets

A Saudi journalist has been sentenced to five years in prison over tweets deemed insulting to the kingdom’s rulers, Amnesty International said on
Friday.

Alaa Brinji, who has reportedly already served two years behind bars, was found guilty on Thursday of a list of charges including “insulting the rulers (and) inciting public opinion,” the rights group said in a statement.

Brinji was also convicted of “accusing security officers of killing protesters” in the Shiite town of Awamiya in Saudi’s restive Eastern Province, it
added.

The group said the journalist had been tried in a “notorious” counter-terrorism court that also found Brinji guilty of “ridiculing Islamic religious figures”.
In addition to the jail term, Brinji has been slapped with a fine of 50,000 riyals ($13,333) and an eight- year travel ban, it said, pointing out that he has
been in detention since May 2014, including an initial period of incommunicado solitary
confinement.

Amnesty’s regional deputy head James Lynch slammed Brinji’s sentence as “utterly shameful”.
“He is the latest victim of Saudi Arabia’s ruthless crackdown on peaceful dissent, where the aim appears to be to completely wipe out any and all
voices of criticism,” he said. “Putting someone behind bars for peacefully
exercising his legitimate right to freedom of expression, and defending the rights of others to
do so, is a complete distortion of the very notion of justice.

“The authorities must ensure his conviction is quashed and release him immediately and unconditionally,” Lynch added, insisting that Saudi Arabia “must be held accountable for its gross and
systematic violations of human rights.”
Amnesty said Brinji worked for Saudi newspapers

Al-Bilad, Okaz and Al-Sharq.
Awamiya, a town of about 30,000 in Eastern Province, has been the scene of repeated incidents since 2011.

jumping into the Lagoon. He has just finished
his secondary school. He went to Lagos City
College. I don’t know why he wanted to
commit suicide”.
“If he had returned home to tell me what
happened, the worst I could have done was to slap him and threatened him to return my money for me. I know I have been an
exceptional mother to the four of them . I
have never allowed them to miss their father
and they are doing quite well in their
studies”.

What a Country? NYSC Member Working for INEC in Rivers Election Killed

Mr Osifo Osaze is reported to have been attacked by gunmen who opened fire on his vehicle but he managed to escape his assailants into the bush.

The REC told Channels that Mr Osaze was found with bullet wounds and has been taken to hospital.
Sadly, a Youth Corps member working as ad hoc INEC official was killed during violence at a polling unit in Ahoada West area.
.
Mr Ikoiwak said that further announcements on the polls will be made in due course.

INEC had suspended further activities in the Rivers State rerun elections following the violent incidents that trailed the conduct of the polls.

The case of Rivers State is really becoming something else, with guns in the hands of youths who use it anyhow for their political godfathers and in open show of force against innocent citizens.

Is it a crime to serve ones fatherland? This Nonsense.

It was gathered that the suspect on the fateful day had gone to introduce a woman to his mother as his future wife, demanding that she accommodate her.

The police said the deceased disagreed with her son on the issue, refusing to take the eight months old pregnant woman in, adding that she was not interested in her and that the suspect should have brought the woman when the pregnancy was still in the early stage.

The police also added that Ibrahim, who thought that his mother was wrong and should have taken the pregnant woman in, got angry.

The deceased was in the kitchen with a knife and yam which she was preparing to cook when the suspect allegedly grabbed the knife and stabbed her in different parts making sure that she was dead.

The incident happened at 3, Olubunmi Christopher Street, off Arowolo Street, Abule Egba.

Ibrahim was charged before an Ebutte Magistrates’ Court for murder and has since been remanded in the Ikoyi Prisons.

2016 Female Corper Almost Rap*d At National Assembly

She shared the terrifying experience herself. A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) attached to the National Assembly narrowly escaped being r*ped on Thursday afternoon.

The fair complexioned lady was seen crying profusely at the White House wing of the National Assembly complex at about 5:45pm.

She told people at the Senate wing of the White House how she narrowly escaped being r*ped.

She said that a heavily built man accosted her while she went to ease herself at one of rest rooms in the upper legislative chamber. The corps member said she was about to uncloth herself when she saw a man entering the rest room.

The lady said she sensed that it was unusual for a man to enter the room specifically made for women.

She added, "as the man approached me, I had no option than to scream and the man took to his heels."

Security operatives at the National Assembly did not respond to her scream, hence the man escaped.
