We have saved 2.2 trillion Naira with just TSA -- Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his administration has so far saved 2.2 trillion naira using just the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

He said when he became president, “we discovered that the NNPC had more than 45 accounts, the ministry of defence and the military had more than 70 accounts; tell me which of the accounts to trace every year?"

The President made this disclosure while interacting with a cross section of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom on the side-line of the Supporting Syria Conference in London.

President Buhari faulted the past administration for operating several accounts with which they siphoned money belonging to Nigerians, vowing not to relent in the fight against corruption.

He said that money recovered so far can fund the country’s deficit and infrastructure development.

In the words of Mr President:“When we discovered that we were already in trouble, we tried to enforce the TSA. This government did not initiate it, it was the previous government, but it was so unpopular to the previous government.

“For its own reasons, it couldn’t impose it, but when we came and we found out that we were broke, we saw that this is the way to do it.

“So we enforced TSA, we said there must be TSA, and let me tell you by the end of December coming to January this year, last month we mopped up more than N2.2 trillion.”

Buhari Begins Five Days’ Vacation, Osinbajo To Take Over

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buahri today began a five-day vacation. According to a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President had already conveyed a letter to that effect to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara notifying them on his vacation.

The Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo will be performing the functions of the president till he returns, the statement also said.

Buhari is expected back in office on February 10th.

Awujale and Obasanjo speaks about the Creation of Ijebu State

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, yesterday disagreed over the creation of the proposed Ijebu state from the current Ogun State. While the Awujale tasked Obasanjo to be fair to the people of Ijebu ‘in more years to come,’ the ex-president said he would only support the creation of Ijebu state if Ikenne was named as its capital. Buhari, Osoba, Daniel ex-govs, to commission Amosun’s 40 projects

Ogun State Government has said that it has invited President Muhammadu Buhari and 11 past governors of the state, including former governors Segun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel to commission some of the 40 projects as part of the commemoration of 40th anniversary celebration of the state.
Ogun State was created in February 3, 1976 by the late General Muritala Mohammed’s government.
Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa disclosed that the February 2 and 3 would be for the commissioning of the 40th anniversary projects across the state which would be performed by President Buhari and past governors of the state.
Adeoluwa, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abeokuta, also explained the plan to initiate the State Executive Council, which would comprise all former governors, ex-State Secretaries to the government and past Heads of Service, who are still alive.
He said: “President Buhari would be in Ogun State between February 2 and 3 to commission some of the projects. Also, we have invited all the past governors, those that are alive, they are 11 and will be part of the celebration. They are going to commission some projects”.

Female corper escaped death from Ritualist

Here is the full story: She boarded a taxi to her PPA, on reaching her destination she gave the driver One thousand naira (N1000) only for the driver to accuse her of paying with a counterfeit naira note. She denied it, but one of the passenger then claimed to be a Police Officer concurred with the driver.
The man brought out handcuffs and cuffed the Corper, claiming they are taking her to police station.
Luckily for her, a passerby saw what was happening and raised an alarm, which prompted the youth of the area to come out.
After so much argument, the youths insisted on searching the driver, only to find more counterfeit notes on him. The other passengers tried to escape including the fake police officer, but were caught by the youth.
The female corper was rescued from them and the man were handed over to police. They have confessed and are making useful statements to the police about this new trick of using people for rituals.
We all should be careful, especially corpers who are new to the area they are posted and are vulnerable.
