A Nigerian man by name Kenny, has been allegedly chased to his death by Policemen attached to the Ajuwon Division in Ogun state.

 

An eyewitness, Jameson Atsu Torsu Snr revealed that the young man was eating his dinner at a noodles joint when the policemen stormed the area and tried to arrest people accusing them of being yahoo-boys. The young man while trying to escape jumped into a gutter and died.

 

Jameson Atsu Torsu Snr wrote: "This is how The Nigeria Police Force, Ajuwon Division kiled a young man. He was eating his dinner jeje ni (Noodles) at his normal joint when the policemen stormed the area arresting innocent able bodied men all in the name of clearing the community off 'yahoo boys'.

 

He was arrested in the afternoon and had to part with#10,000 before he was released. 

Now, as he tried resisting another arrest again (in the evening), they tried forcing him and he ran away and unfortunately for him,he tried jumping over the gutter but ended up being stucked and died.

The policemen told his friends who could hve called for help that Kenny's been arrested and he's in their bus and it prevented the guys from even noticing that their friend was already dead.

This guy was in this same position till around 10am this morning (sunday) before an excavator took away that slab. That was way too long and Kenny died a horrible death.

Mind you, Kenny's not a criminal as you may think. He's a well known Welder all around Olambe, Ogun state.

He's the only one taking care of his parents and now that he's gone who will??

PHOTO: DSS Attacks Journalist In Osun Assembly

Operatives of the Directorate of State Service (DSS) on Monday were said to have allegedly attacked two journalists at the Osun State House of Assembly Complex, Osogbo, Osun State capital, while discharging their duties as parliamentary reporters.

Amiloaded gathered through an eyewitness that the incident happened while the Journalists were covering a solidarity procession of some peaceful protesters who came in support of Local Government Autonomy.

Tumothy Agbor of The Point Newspaper who was part of the victims explained that he was first accosted by female officer who he couldn't identified because she beared no arm and she was not on uniform.

Timothy added that he was queried by the lady about his mission at the assembly complex which he answered that he is a journalist but he was taken to an hidden place alongside one Toba Ajisafe who was said to be an online reporter.

Agbor and Toba explained that they were both manhandled at the unknown place while their phones and other gadgets were also spoilt beyond repair.

In his reaction, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) in Osun State, Comrade Abiodun Olalere has condemned the act in strong terms, described it as unacceptable and barbaric.

Olalere added that the union will resist any attempt to restrict journalists from doing their duty in the State.

Sad Story! 19 Year Old Lady Murdered And Stuffed Inside Hotel Freezer | Photo

A 19-year-old West Side woman was found dead inside a walk-in freezer at a Rosemont hotel Sunday morning, about a day after she had gone missing from a party she attended with friends, police and her family said. She is alleged to have been murdered before being stuffed into the hotel freezer.

According to Chicago Tribune, the woman identified as Kenneka Jenkins was discovered after an hours long search and was pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The mother of the deceased, Tereasa Martin, said police told her Jenkins apparently let herself into the freezer while inebriated and died inside. An autopsy was performed Sunday, said Becky Schlikerman, spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office, but it wasn’t immediately clear whether foul play was suspected in Jenkins’ death. The cause and manner of the teen’s death were not determined Sunday.

Speaking to reporters outside the hotel Sunday morning, Martin said she was having trouble understanding what happened.

“(I’m) horrified,” she said. “It’s something that no one could ever imagine. It’s unbelievable.”

Daniel Pena, a manager at the hotel, referred questions about the incident to Rosemont police Sunday.

“Anyone can understand how a parent can feel distraught over the loss of a child and feel the need to lash out due to the tremendous pain they’re feeling, and we can certainly understand that,” Mack said. “But people can rest assured Rosemont is one of the top, highest trained, most respected police departments in the state of Illinois and does a good job at what they do.

“Every situation has a lot of variables, and certainly this one did,” he said. “The hotel has probably never seen anything like this, either, I would imagine.”

Martin said she thought Rosemont police also failed to heed the family’s frantic attempts to figure out what happened to Jenkins.

“If they had taken me seriously and checked right away, they could have found my daughter much sooner and she might have been alive,” Martin said.

Why I Didn't Operate In Yoruba States Aside Lagos --- Evans Explains

Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, yesterday told New Telegraph reasons why he did not operate in South-West states apart from Lagos.
This was even the police yesterday said the suspect would soon be charged to court on charges of alleged murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Evans said he preferred to operate in Enugu, Abia, Lagos and Edo states. But, according to him, since he is from Anambra State, he decided not to carry out robbery or kidnapping operations in the state.
He said: “Police tracking located me in Anambra State, but it was not because I committed robbery or even kidnapped anyone there.
"If I kidnapped someone in Lagos, I sometimes go to Anambra State to collect the ransom, just to avoid detention.”
Challenged that he once carried out simultaneous robbery operations in Oyo State in 2010, where three banks were raided, Evans shrugged.
“No! I have never operated in any Yoruba state, let alone Oyo State. I have never operated there; Lagos is my state. I mostly operated from Lagos.
"Moreover, I also didn’t like operating in Yoruba states because I don’t know my way around there. I don’t know the terrains.
"It is not right to go where you don’t know, except you have someone that can lead you,” he said.

Evans also seized the opportunity of speaking with New Telegraph to dispel outrageous ‘lies’ being peddled in social media and online sites.

He said: “There was never a time I said I got victims from Facebook or that my wife used to collect ransom on my behalf. I did not also say there are important personalities working with me in the East.”
Yesterday, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Jimoh Moshood, said investigations into the alleged crimes against Evans and his gang members had reached advanced stages.
He added that the judicial process for his conviction or otherwise, will “soon begin before a court of competent jurisdiction”.
Moshood said: “Evans is going to be taken to court very soon, on completion of investigation.”
When asked where the billionaire suspect would be tried, in view of the fact that he had committed the alleged offences in different states.
Moshood responded: “He will be tried before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

The Pastor who went into hiding after South African Broadcasting Corporation 3 (SABC3), reported that the police had received several petitions that Pastor Omotosho, the General Overseer of Jesus Dominion International based in Durban, was arrested and paraded round an airport where people gathered to cheer the police.
It was gathered, that he had been abusing young girls at his Umhlanga home, and 
when a warrant was issued for his arrest, he reportedly skipped and has been in hiding. It was also alleged that all three cell phones linked to him was deactivated.

Startling revelations have emerged of a gory tale in the raging rival cult war involving high profile kin pins including senior lecturers of the Edo State owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

Man Shot Three Dead While Screaming 'Allahu Akbar'

A man identified as Kori Ali Muhammed has been arrested by police officers in California, US for killing three white people while screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’

Report has it that Muhammad fired 16 shots at random in three different locations on Tuesday in Fresno, California at about 10:45 a.m, leading to the death of the death of the white men.

According to Fresno Police Department Chief, Jerry Dyer, the department apprehended Mohammed at the scene after two gunshots were detected through ShotSpotter.

Disclosing that several more gunshots were detected nearby, Dyer said a total of 16 rounds were fired in less than a minute in four different locations.

The police Chief disclosed that when California police arrested the suspect, officers witnessed him shouting “Allah Akbar.”

Dyer said Tuesday afternoon, adding that he has written anti-government sentiments on social media as well as posts saying that he does not like white people.

Speaking during a Press Conference, Dyer said he did not believe the murders were related to terrorism, adding that the shootings were “solely based on race.”

Nigerian Police Shot Notorious Robber, Tompolo Dead During Gun Battle

A recognized robbery gang known as Tompolo has been shot dead by Delta police command in the state. According to Report by Daily Post, Tompolo and his gang were involved in Gun battle with the police the local vigilante members in the state. The incident was said to have happened on Saturday, 9^th of April, 2017.

The gang members were robbing an unidentified woman at gunpoint around 5 am when they were accosted by the policemen. Tompolo was shot dead while 3 others sustained gunshot wounds.

Tompolo had been terrorizing the community before his death.

The Divisional Police Officer of Enerhen, CSP Hassan Galadima said: ” I’m aware of the incident. It’s not just the vigilante that killed the robber. They were on patrol with the police. We shot him and the rest escaped with bullet wounds. We recovered from them some expended and live cartridges inside the gun.”

Crime: Man Steals And Sells 6 Year Old Girl For N200,000 In Imo State

A suspected kidnapper, Chibueze Nwaozuzu, has been arrested by the imo state police team for allegedly kidnapping six (6) year old  Chinecherem Anoruo and sold her off for N200,000. The family of the victim was thrown into serious confusion after their six year old child got missing. In the course of investigation, it was gathered that the suspect, Chibueze Nwaozuzu allegedly stole the child and sold her off to one woman identified as Madam Comfort Umunnakwe. 

The Imo police commissioner, Chris Ezike said the police command has so far recovered N83,000 from the suspect, adding that the six year old victim had been reunited with her parents. The Police commissioner said  “We received a report of a missing six-year-old child, Chinecherem Anoruo.During investigation, Nwaozuzu was arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime'

“The suspect made useful statements to the police. He stated that he stole the child and sold her to one Comfort Umunnakwe for N200,000. Comfort was arrested and the stolen child recovered. The sum of N83,000, being part of the proceeds of the sale of the child, was also recovered from Nwaozuzu.”

FBI Declares A Nigerian Man Wanted Over $5m Scam (Photo)

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has declared a Nigerian, Kelechi Declan James, wanted  for allegedly scamming  victim  of more than $5 million.

A statement on FBI website reads: “FBI agents are looking for the public’s assistance in locating Kelechi Declan James. He has federal criminal charges against him from an investigation by FBI New York’s Cyber Crime Task Force. James is known to frequent the Brooklyn neighborhoods of East New York (Crescent Street and Loring Avenue; Vermont Street between Blake Avenue and Dumont Avenue), Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant (MacDougal and Hull Streets), Crown Heights (Park Place and Utica Avenue), Flatbush (E 29th and Avenue D), and East Flatbush (East 51st and Winthrop Street). The FBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

“James is 32 years old, 6’0″ tall, and approximately 175 pounds. He is a Nigerian national, has brown eyes and black hair, and may have a beard. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of James is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. The FBI can be reached 24 hours a day at (212) 384-1000. He is not considered to be violent in nature.

“As alleged in a complaint sworn out of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, James, along with four other co-conspirators, ran a business e-mail compromise scheme that resulted victim losses of more than $5 million for their victims.

“As part of scheme, James and his co-conspirators defrauded victims across the U.S. by tricking them into wiring money to bank accounts the victims believed were owned by family members, friends, or business associates. They did this in two ways: by overtaking an e-mail account of an individual trusted by the victim and then requesting money be wired to a bank account; or by developing a relationship of trust with victim like an Internet romance and then asking the victim to wire money. As soon as the money was wired, it would be moved from one account to another, and the funds would be withdrawn. James’s role in this scheme was to withdraw the money from bank accounts.”

30 Yahoo Boys Arrested In Ghana, One Ghanaian, 29 Nigerians

A suspected cyber crime syndicate was last Saturday busted by the Achimota Mile 7 Police in Accra. In all, 29 suspects, all Nigerians, were arrested in an early morning swoop on a house at Alhaji Tabora in Accra.

Retrieved from the suspects were 34 laptops and 48 mobile phones they allegedly used in committing crimes.                       

The suspects are also linked to a dead body that was found wrapped at the Apenkwa neighbourhood two weeks ago.

The suspects are aged from 21 to 30.

Another suspect, Peter Konadu Frimpong, 34, who was on top of a storey building videoing the police action, was also arrested.

The suspects

Among the suspects rounded up were Ike Ogu, 24; Ike Iduozi, 23; Blessing Adebayo, 25; Awudu Abdul Razak, 23; Daley Emmanuel, 26; Moses Madjaki, 30; Onaghnise Osahou, 24; Peter Andrews,25; Benjamin Akumeze, 25; Kelvin Osayi, 23; Oforufemi Adrigu, 25, Anthony Irughe, 22 and Kelvin Uche, 22.

Others were Timothy Irughe, 22; Elvis Uzeogbu, 24; Owen Zakari, 24; Joe Steve Obozu, 29; Festus Owubu, 25; Abraham Femi, 24; Suleman Abudu, 25; Abraham Femi, 24; Age Michael, 25; Philip Aghariaha, 25; Nathaniel Owobu, 27; Teddy Atigbin, 23; Henry Onege, 27; Daniel Ukuokolo, 21; Osas Uhuns, 22; Kelvin Ola, 23, Lucky Osahou,21 and Yakubu Dido, 26.

Tip-off

Briefing the Daily Graphic in Accra yesterday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro II, said the police, acting on a tip-off, kept the house under surveillance before conducting the swoop.

He said the police met almost all the suspects busily engaged in fraudulent cyber activities during the swoop around 7 a.m. last Saturday.

“The suspects were all living in one big house where they undertake their nefarious activities,” he added.     

Link to dead body 

On the dead body found at Apenkwa which was linked to the suspected cyber fraudsters, DCOP Pinkro said a search on the body revealed that the victim had been killed somewhere and dumped at the place.

Information gathered by the police indicated that the deceased was one of the Nigerian suspects who had gone missing.

“The information was that he was beaten to death and wrapped and dumped there for leaking the group’s activities to a third party whom we cannot name. They saw it as a betrayal. We are investigating this case, in addition to the cyber crime cases,” he said.

The suspects will be put before court today, pending further police investigations.

Simultaneous swoop

In a related development, the Accra Regional Police Command, on March 10, 2017, simultaneously carried out swoops in all 14 of its divisions in parts of the city believed to be dens of criminals.

In the process, 112 suspects were arrested in areas including Adenta, the Odorkor Market, Kwashieman, Gbawe, Anyaa, Sowutuom and its environs, the Achimota Charcoal Station, Aborfu, the Santana Market, the Abeka Market, Kissieman, Akweteman, the Madina Market, the Redco Flats, Madina Zongo, the Madina Lorry Station, Madina Firestone, Adabraka, Tuobodom at Adabraka, the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and Accra New Town.            

Apart from the items, including electronic gadgets, retrieved from the suspects, the police found wrapped  substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

At Accra New Town, for instance, the police collected 179 wrapped dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 61 wrapped whitish substances suspected to be narcotic drugs and 65 wrapped rock-like material suspected to be narcotic drugs.

Danger

Commenting on the suspected narcotic drugs seized, DCOP Osabarima Pinkro said: “It tells you the danger of people abusing drugs in the city. This is a contributory factor to the violent crimes, including murder, suicide and robbery.”                       

He said it was, therefore, important that the police conducted those swoops to get rid of criminals to make the communities safer.                       

“Police work thrives on information. What we want the public to do is provide us with information. They should give us information on the hideouts of these criminals. They know them; they live with some of them. If possible, they should come to me personally,” he appealed.                 

He urged the public to erase the perception that when they reported crime to the police, the police would turn around to reveal the identities of the informants to the criminals.

Lagos Police Kills Man Who Just Returned From South Africa

Protesting youths at Sobo bus stop, Akowonjo, Lagos State, went on the rampage on Thursday after a mobile policeman shot dead a 23-year-old man, identified only as Niyi, aka Para.

As some operatives reportedly whisked away the killer cop in a van, the protesters resorted to violence, vandalising a hotel, shops and vehicles parked by the roadside in the area.

Punch learnt that the policeman was one of the security officers attached to the hotel – Erico Bellisima Hotels – which is located some distance away from the bus stop.

A version of the story said Niyi had been at loggerheads with a friend, identified only as Santo, over a sum of N5.2m Niyi sent to him in tranches for safekeeping while he was in South Africa.

The deceased returned from South Africa last week to reclaim the money after he was told that Santo converted it to personal use.

Another account stated that the money was Niyi’s share of an undisclosed deal carried out by Santo on his behalf.

After failed attempts to get the sum from Santo, he was said to have reported the case to policemen at a division in the neighbourhood.

The policemen reportedly told him to alert them once he sighted Santo in the hotel, where he always stayed.

Around 7am on Thursday, Niyi and his friends reportedly visited the hotel to verify if he was there.

A resident of the area, Segun Ajayi, said Niyi was into an undisclosed Internet business, through which he realised the money.

He said, “Niyi had not been in the country for a while. He just returned last week. While he was in South Africa, he did a job and told his friend, Santo, to help him pick up some money which was about N5.2m. He told him to keep the money. But before he came back, Santo had started spending it.’’

Policemen from the Area M Command, Idimu; Shasha Police Station, Rapid Response Squad and Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, were on the ground to restore normalcy.

Meet Nigerian Scammer, Emmanuel Nwude Who Sold A Fake Airport To An International Bank For $240Million

Emmanuel Nwude is a Nigerian notable advance-fee fraud artist and former Director ofUnion Bank of Nigeria. He is most famous for successfully defrauding a Brazilian man, Nelson Sakaguchi, a Director at Brazil’s Banco Noroeste based in São Paulo, of $242 million, $191 million in cash and the remainder in the form of outstanding interest, between 1995 and 1998. His accomplices were Emmanuel Ofolue, Nzeribe Okoli, and Obum Osakwe, along with the husband and wife duo, Christian Ikechukwu Anajemba and Amaka Anajemba, with Christian later being assassinated. After Nick Leeson’s trading losses at Barings Bank, and the looting of the Iraqi Central Bank by Qusay Hussein, the crime was the largest in banking history. After a large-scale attack on a town in Nigeria in August 2016, Mr. Nwude was alleged to be a ringleader and was arrested on murder charges. He remains in custody….

Aftermath and Trial

At the request of Olusegun Obasanjo, then President of Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was created by the Nigerian Parliament in 2002.[11] In February 2004, Amaka Anajemba, Emmanuel Nwude, Emmanuel Ofolue, Nzeribe Okoli, and Obum Osakwe, with Christian Anajemba deceased at this point, were all arrested and charged in the Abuja High Court with 86 counts of “fraudulently seeking advance fees” and 15 counts of bribery related to the case. They pleaded not guilty. They were immediately warned off of bribing the court staff by Abuja High Court Judge Lawal Gumi, after he alleged that money was going around.

The defense team assured that “nothing would be done to bring scandal to the administration of justice.” Four Nigerian companies, Fynbaz, Emrus, Ocean Marketing and the African Shelter Bureau also faced charges and pleaded not guilty. In July 2004, Judge Lawal Gumi threw out the case, claiming that since the crime did not take place in Abuja, he had no jurisdiction, and said that the proper place for the case would be the Lagos High Court. The defendants were immediately rearrested after stepping outside the courthouse and the case was moved to Lagos. In 2005, Emmanuel attempted to bribe Nuhu Ribadu, then head of the commission, with $75,000 cash. He was charged in connection with the attempted bribery in addition to the attempted kidnapping of a prosecution witness. In July 2005, Amaka Anajemba admitted to helping Anajemba and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and ordered to repay $25.5 million.

During Nwude’s trial, there was a bomb scare that caused the courthouse to be evacuated. Emmanuel Nwude and Nzeribe Okoli pleaded guilty after testimony from Sakaguchi in hopes of a more lenient sentence, and were sentenced to 29 years in prison collectively, with Nwude receiving five concurrent sentences of five years, totaling 25, and Okoli receiving four. The entirety of Nwude’s assets were confiscated to be returned to the victim and a $10 million fine was imposed to be paid to the Nigerian federal government. It was the first major conviction for the EFCC. He was released from prison in 2006.
Chief Emmanuel filed a lawsuit to recover his seized assets after he was released from prison, on the grounds that some of the assets were acquired before the offense was committed. He has already reclaimed at least $167 million.  As of May 8, 2015, the matter is being heard by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

Murder charges

On August 19, 2016, the town of Ukpo in the Dunukofia area was attacked by over 200 people, apparently due to a land dispute with the neighboring Abagana community. Four policemen were shot, and Emmanuel Okafor, a security guard at a construction site, was killed. The Anambra State Police Command alleged that Emmanuel Nwude was a ringleader, and arrested him on 27 charges including murder, attempted murder, and terrorist attacks. His case has been adjourned until January 16, 2017. He is currently being held at Awka Prison in Anambra State, where there is fear of a jailbreak due to Emmanuel Nwude’s wealth and status.

Why We Killed Uber Driver — Suspect Confess

Suspects who posed as passengers and killed an Uber driver, said they carried out the act in an attempt to steal his vehicle.

Detectives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Lagos State Police Command arrested the suspects who were paraded on Tuesday.

The duo and one other at large, had strangled the driver, Innevosa Emmanuel and disposed him of his KIA RIO salon car marked KTU 594DM.

The suspects said they always went after uber drivers with the intention of killing them and stealing their cars, to resell them to new buyers.

The suspects boarded the vehicle from Ikeja to take them to Ogba, Oke-Ira during which they suddenly ordered the driver to make a U-turn and take them to Oremeji Street, Obawole area of Ogba.

One of them narrated the incident: “I and Michael met at Ogba where I went to drink and we became friends. I told him how difficult things were for me that I needed to relocate to Benin to start all over again.

“It was at this point that Michael told me about a deal that could fetch me some money that we could get a car and then sell it to his boss.

“Michael then told me about one Alex (Emmanuel) who had a vehicle and we agreed to meet the following day. Since then we had been meeting and discussing how to get the vehicle.

“On the fateful day, the Uber driver came, I was with Michael in his office and his friend Destiny was with him but I don’t know if he discussed the vehicle deal with Destiny.

“Around 9:30p.m, we called the Uber driver to come and pick us at Tantalizer eatery at Ogba. I and Destiny were inside the vehicle with the driver, but Michael was outside while I was holding the belt.

“Immediately I put the belt around the driver’s neck, Destiny dragged the belt and we strangled him. When we were satisfied that he was dead, we took his corpse to Oremeji Street and dumped him in front of a church around 10:30 p.m., without anybody noticing us.

“After killing the driver, we took the vehicle to Michael’s boss to sell it. The buyer then inquired from us where we got the vehicle from and Michael told him that we killed the owner.

“The buyer then said we should take the car away and Michael said we should take it to his house and park it outside, before taking it to another buyer in Benin.

“Later we were tracked to Benin, arrested and brought back to Lagos.”

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects at the Command headquarters, said the command received a report of a missing Uber driver, whose car was stolen and the driver missing.

A teenage young boy identified as Aminu, has lost his life after he was allegedly sexually abused by one Abubakar, a tea seller in Ngwayanma, in the Kontagora area of Niger State.

Abubakar, aka Maishai, had reportedly abducted Aminu from his parents’ house sometime in March, and held him hostage in his (Abubakar’s) apartment. He was alleged to have severally had anal sex with Aminu for two weeks, until the victim fell ill.

It was gathered that a neighbour, who got wind of Aminu’s abduction, raised the alarm and reported the case to the police at the Kontagora division. While Abubakar was arrested, the boy was admitted to a hospital, where he died.

A police source said that Abubakar was arraigned in a Kontagora Chief Magistrate’s Court before the boy died, on two counts of abduction and unnatural offences, to which the defendant pleaded guilty.

“The unfortunate thing is that he was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with a fine of N30,000, which is ridiculous. The punishment generated a lot of outcry. But it is not the police’s fault. What the police can do is to appeal the case or file a new charge, now that boy is dead,” he added.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana James, confirmed Aminu’s death, saying that the case had been transferred to the command headquarters in Minna.

He added that the suspect would be re-arraigned on a fresh charge of culpable homicide. He said, “He is still in prison, serving the one month’s imprisonment. Once the new charge is filed, he would be reproduced to take his plea.”

Lagos State Jails 6 Motorists For Buying Goods In Traffic

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency (LASECORPS) has recently arrested six motorists at the Ikeja Along end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for allegedly buying goods in the traffic.

The offenders’ vehicles, a Honda Accent, Hiace, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Sienna, taxi cab and commercial bus, were also impounded by the agency.

Punch reports that four passengers and nine hawkers were also apprehended during the operation, which was carried out on Thursday.

They were accused of breaching the environmental law and brought before a magistrate, Mr. Olayiwola Ogundare of the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, who sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment each.

Ogundare, however, gave the accused an option of N10, 000 fine each, adding that each of the motorists should pay additional N20,000 fine into the state coffers.

The Head of Public Affairs Unit for LASECORPS, Rahmat Alabi, said the arrest was in line with the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015.

She said the Corps Marshal of the agency, CSP Bola Jimoh (retd.), stated that LASECORPS was determined to fight the menace of highway hawking.

“The corps marshal believes that the enforcement of the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015 that makes both buyers and sellers liable, will send the expected signal and halt the prevalence of the illegal highway hawking and street trading in the metropolis. If there are no buyers, there will be no sellers,” she said.

The suspect, who is fondly known as Togo, was arrested alongside some members of his family and that of the bride for alleged involvement in armed robbery.

A source at the event informed journalists that the police stormed the event at Olaoluwa area of Amuloko, packed the wedding cakes and some of the items meant for the wedding.

“Immediately the policemen stormed the venue, they headed straight to where the groom was sitting and handcuffed him.

“They also picked some members of his family; while this was going on, people that have come from different location for the wedding flee in different directions”, the source said.

A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said “the groom and other members of his gang robbed at Olodo on Friday and two of them were arrested in the morning and later another one was arrested; he was the one that gave us the information about Togo’s wedding and the other one is now at large.”

However, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Adekunle Ajisebutu said though he had read the report somewhere, he was not aware of its source.

Ajisebutu in a telephone conversation with DAILY POST on Sunday told the reporter to call him back so as to find out the source of the story.

“I am not aware of the incident.

“Though, I have read about it somewhere but I don’t know the source of the story. I will find out. Call me back, let me find out”, he said.

Umeme Lotachukwu Fabian, 33, was arrested by th official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, with drugs suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 1.205kg, has blamed his indulgence on the need to raise money for wedding.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, travelling to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia, claimed to be an Ivorian. He was arrested while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Indonesia with a Cote d’lvoire international passport bearing the name Grou Bi Clauvis. NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Ahmadu Garba, however, said that during investigation, it was revealed that the suspect hailed from Anambra State with the name Umeme Lotachukwu Fabian.

In his statement, the suspect disclosed that he was offered five thousand dollars to smuggle the drugs to Indonesia. “I am the only son of my parents. I wanted to invest the money in my clothes business and also commence preparation for my marriage in a bid to settle down in life. They offered me five thousand naira to smuggle the drugs to Indonesia”, he stated. Fabian explained that he was not aware that drug trafficking attracts capital punishment in Indonesia” , he said .

Ekiti Police Arrest Three Friends With Human Skull

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly being found in possession of a human skull.

The suspects – Muhammed Isiaka, Ismaila Okoro and Abidemi Awolusi – were said to have been arrested with the skull and some weapons, including charms.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Chafe, said the suspects were arrested by men of the Operation Flush at Igirigiri, a farmstead in Ado Ekiti, describing them as kidnappers and armed robbers who had been terrorising Ekiti in recent times.

The suspects were among several others paraded by the police at the command headquarters.

Also paraded for armed robbery were;

Tope Falua, Olaoluwa Fagbamila, Gbenga Faleye and Kehinde Adejuwon.

“We recovered charms and Indian hemp from Adejuwon’s premises while conducting a search on the premises,” Chafe said.

He said his men also arrested one Oyewumi Tope and Olayiwola Faluru, while allegedly siphoning diesel on the premises of the Ekiti State Water Corporation.

The police also paraded one Olusoji Damilola, who was allegedly caught at the scene of a robbery, where a petrol station’s attendant, Oluwadare Adebayo, was robbed of N1.2m.

“We will not rest until we ensure that our people can sleep with their two eyes closed. And these people will be charged to court soon,” the CP said.
