Unfulfilled Promises: Niger Delta Militants Threaten To Resume Attacks

Militant groups in the Niger Delta are threatening to resume attacks due to :of the Federal Government.

A statement issued by the militant groups said, “There is no more time; the Federal Government must act now and show seriousness and commitment to the plight of Niger Delta or we will be forced to resume attacks.

“We must make sure we liberate our people from the slavery of the Nigerian state. We believe that the Federal Government will not be surprised to see another crisis in the Niger Delta and they should not blame anyone if such happens.

“The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, is not sincere in resolving the Niger Delta crisis.”

“We know very well that the visit of the Vice-President (then Acting President) to oil producing states was a big scam, camouflage, deceit and delay tactics by the Federal Government to achieve its normal daily crude oil production.

“We want to state here clearly that we are tired of all unfulfilled promises; we are tired of developing Niger Delta in the media, we are tired of the Vice-President’s unending meetings without follow-up actions,” they added.

The statement was authorised by leader of Niger Delta Watchdog, ‘General’ John Duku; ‘General’ Ekpo Ekpo of the Niger Delta Volunteers, ‘Commander’ Henry Etete of the Niger Delta People’s Fighters and ‘Commander’ Asuquo Henshaw of the Bakassi Freedom Fighters.

VP Osinbajo Begins Niger Delta Peace Tour

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be visiting a number of oil communities across some Niger Delta States starting on Monday.

He will visit Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers State.

His office said the visits are in “further demonstration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness and determination to comprehensively address the Niger Delta situation”

At these visits, Mr. Osinbajo will lead high-level delegations of the Federal Government that will interact with leaders and representatives of the oil-producing communities in continuation of ongoing outreach efforts of the Buhari administration towards a long lasting and permanent resolution of the Niger Delta crisis, a statement signed by the vice president’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, said.

Attacks by militant groups in the oil rich region have seen oil production significantly reduced since 2016.
Peace initiatives of the government failed to end the attacks on pipelines and oil and gas platforms.

“The Buhari presidency is fully committed to having an effective dialogue and positive engagement that will end the crisis in the oil-producing areas, and believes that these visits would further boost the confidence necessary for the attainment of peace and prosperity in the areas and the Nigerian nation in general,” the vice president’s office said.

Niger Delta Avengers Order Fighters To Prepare For War

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), on Friday ordered its fighters to prepare to fight “war” against the “enemy”, saying Nigerian authorities were not ready for dialogue.
Avengers had declared a ceasefire last year after major attacks on oil facilities, crippling the OPEC member’s oil output.

The attacks cut Nigeria’s oil production, which stood at 2.1 million barrels per day (bpd) for some months in 2016.
Although the Nigerian government has been holding talks for more than six months with Niger Delta leaders, the former militants have complained that no progress has been made.
In a statement posted on its site yesterday, NDA said it was set to resume hostilities.
Titled ‘OPERATIONS WALLS OF JERICHO AND HURRICANE JOSHUA’ NDA informed “the people of our Niger Delta, sane minds in Nigeria and the comity of nations that the remaining 11 months and couples of weeks in 2017 will be filled with surprises and a reconfiguration of the struggle for the liberation of our motherland.”
“Since, the declaration of cessation of hostilities in the region by all fighters and affiliates, it has been evidently clear that the Nigerian state is not ready for any form of dialogue and negotiation with our people to addressing the issues sustaining the unending sufferings and deprivation of the people of the Niger Delta.
“The world is aware that, after listening to calls from our Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, Stakeholders and members of the comity of nations especially the governments of the United States of America, Great Britain and the European Union, we halted all actions. This prospect for hope for a genuine dialogue and negotiations have been dashed and rejected.

“The world knows that PANDEF as team of critical stakeholders was mandated to engender a genuine dialogue and negotiations process that will be made of apolitical committed Niger Deltans to engage with the government and people of Nigeria, representatives of the International Oil Corporations and neutral observers. But this government decides to go around to politicising and blackmailing the process to forestall any genuine dialogue and negotiations.
“The world should be assured that, our next line of actions to redeem Operations Red Economy will be unannounced with surely overwhelming signatures to this government and humanity.
“The world is aware that the government of Nigeria has ear problems but we never knew that it has taken a detoriating deaf level dimensions. It is only through hard knocks we can speak to the Nigerian government henceforth”.
Continuing Avengers assured Niger Delta people that “we feel your pains from these dashed hopes of a genuine talk once again. All fighters and commands are hereby placed on high readiness in your webs of operations to hit and knock the enemy very hard.
“That is the way to discuss with a deaf, when he cannot understand your soft massage. We are determined to hit him very hard and deadly that even his eyes will shed blood, his ear will be more deafened and his heart shall quake; when he sees, hear and feel the outcome of our next activities.
“On this note, we are declaring “Operations Walls of Jericho and Hurricane Joshua” simultaneously to reclaim our motherland and dislodge all cleavages the Nigerian Ruling oligarchy has foisted on the region that is sustaining the ongoing primitive accumulation by dispossession.”

We Are Ready For Dialogue -- Niger Delta Militants Tells Buhari

The peace we have been expecting is at a corner

Niger Delta militants on Tuesday expressed their readiness to engage the Federal Government in dialogue to ensure that peace reigned in the oil-rich region.

The militants said the decision to embrace dialogue was reached after a meeting held on Tuesday under the auspices of the Coalition of Niger Delta Groups.

The militants, who made their position known in a statement, said they had no personal grudge against President Muhammadu Buhari and are ready to work together with his administration to make Nigeria better.

Recalled that President Buhari had on Sunday called on the militants to come forward for dialogue over the Niger Delta crisis.

“We wish to assure Mr. President that the Niger Delta militants and the people are 100 percent ready for dialogue. We have no personal grudge against him and his government and we promise to work together to make Nigeria better,” the agitators said.

The militants commended President Buhari for calling on the Niger Delta militants to negotiate with the Federal Government.

The leader of the Niger Delta Watchdogs, General John Duku; General Ekpo Ekpo of the Niger Delta Volunteers, Commander Henry Okon Etete of the Niger Delta Peoples Fighters and Commander Asukwo Henshaw, the spokesperson for the Bakassi Freedom Fighters who signed the statement, agreed to embrace peace.

Niger Delta Avengers Resume Bombing, Explains Why

The Niger Delta Avengers on Sunday said its strike team resumed attacks on oil facilities in the region because the federal government has refused to honour the ceasefire it entered into with the militant group to allow for a dialogue.

A statement issued by the group’s spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, accused the government of using military to undermine the process by ‘unnecessarily’ harassing communities and arrest innocent people in the region.

Niger Delta Avengers Threaten To Resume Oil Bombing

The Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, has issued a strong fresh warning to the Federal Government that it would resume bombing of oil facilities if government made any further mistake to enter into negotiation with selfish leaders in the region.
The group said the so-called leaders only represented themselves instead of the interest of the people.

The Avengers in a statement accused some unnamed selfish Niger Delta leaders and groups of appropriating the overall interest of the region to themselves and cronies, while the majority wallowed in penury.

A spokesman for the NDA, who gave his name as Col. Rightman Hudson Opukurowari, in the statement, warned that any attempt by the government to engage in any form of dialogue with Niger Delta leaders who had allegedly hijacked the commonwealth of the people for their selfish interest, would be resisted.
Opukurowari said: “Since we had agreed to suspend bombing oil facilities and enter into genuine dialogue with the government, the administration has not shown any seriousness in talking to the right set of people to move the peace process forward.
“Two months after the ceasefire, it has become clear to the world that this government has not been sincere and serious in meeting the simple demands of the people to put in place a concrete plan of transforming the landscape and giving us any sense of hope despite our critical contribution to the commonwealth of the nation.
“From the way the government is going after we had suspended bombings, it is clear to the world that the Federal Government is not ready to make peace with us as earlier promised and we are under pressure to resume our attacks. It is obvious that the Muhammadu Buhari administration has rather chosen to be nonchalant to the dialogue and has deliberately decided to invite only their political friends for a dinner in the name of dialogue, by their own selective measures, thereby ignoring the chance for real peace and dialogue with the appropriate persons and groups.

“The Government is trying to avoid a holistic approach to addressing the real issues affecting us and finding solutions to them but merely taking time off to engage those we see as “Niger Delta Vultures” sitting in Abuja with their sponsors, taking credit for our genuine agitations.
“We have watched and observed that with the body language of the President and the composition of the so-called dialogue group, no meaningful solution will be proffered unless the government invites all concerned and genuine individuals and groups for the purpose of finding a lasting solution to the crisis in the region.
“We hereby warn that any action taken by the government to provoke us to resume hostilities would be more brutal than before until we enter the promised land.
“We are concerned because these same persons invited for the scheduled dialogue have become Federal Government dialogue contractors and they do not represent the interest of the generality of the people.”

President Buhari To Meet Niger Delta Leaders To Discuss On Militancy On Oct 31

President Muhammedu Buari set to meet with the leaders of the Niger delta militancy on October 31.

Buhari’s meeting with the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PNDF, an amalgamation of monarchs, leaders, groups and stakeholders of the oil rich region was initially slated for October 29 but was rescheduled to October 31 because the first date was Saturday.

The change in date was confirmed by both the leader of PNDF, former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark and Secretary of the Central Working Committee of PNDF, Mr. Ledum Mitee.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, as saying he was actually looking at October 29 until it was found out that it was a Saturday

He said, “It was actually a suggestion that the meeting could hold about that date, but having found out that 29 is a Saturday, you know it is not possible to drag the President for such a meeting on that day, the better day is Monday, October 31, so that is date.”

Clark had kicked against the intial meeting of the Federal Government with Stakehloders from the oil region, saying it was “contrary to the expectations of well meaning people.”

Five soldiers were said to have died instantly, while a sixth one died at about 7am, according to a village source

Past Looters Of The Treasury Are Behind The Niger Delta Avengers --- Buhari

President Muhammed Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed those behind the activities of Niger delta avengers. Buhari while speaking to top rate Nigerian professionals based in the United States of America said that past looters of the treasury are behind the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta region.

“Those who stole Nigeria dry are not happy. They recruited the militants against us in the Niger Delta, and began to sabotage oil infrastructure. We lose millions of barrels per day, at a time when every dollar we can earn, counts. It is a disgrace that a minimum of 27 states, out of 36 that we have in Nigeria, can’t pay salaries”, Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina quoted the President in a statement released Friday.

President Buhari was speaking to top rate Nigerian professionals based in the United States of America ,whom Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Matters and International Relations, described as “15 of the best people God ever created.”

The professionals were in New York to meet with the Nigerian President.

“I am very pleased with this meeting,” President Buhari stated. “Wherever you go in the world, you find highly competent and outstanding Nigerians. They not only make great impact on their host countries and communities, their financial remittances back home also help our economy, particularly at a time like this, when things are down.

“We got into trouble as a country, because we did not save for the rainy day. For example, between 1999 and 2015, when we produced an average of 2.1 million barrels of oil per day, and oil prices stood at an average of $100 per barrel, we did not save, neither did we develop infrastructure. Suddenly, when we came in 2015, oil prices fell to about 30 dollars per barrel.

“I asked; where are the savings? There were none. Where are the railways? The roads? Power? None. I further asked; what did we do with billions of dollars that we made over the years? They said we bought food. Food with billions of dollars? I did not believe, and still do not believe.

“In most parts of Nigeria, we eat what we grow. People in the South eat tubers, those in the North eat grains, which they plant, and those constitute over 60 per cent of what we eat. So, where did the billions of dollars go? We did a lot of damage to ourselves by not developing infrastructure when we had the money”, the president quizzed.

23 Militants Down in Gun Battle Against Nigerian Troops

Report indicates that twenty-three Niger Delta militants were allegedly killed during a gun battle with troops of the Nigerian Army.

Ibrahim Attahiru, general officer commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Enugu, disclosed this on Saturday, saying 55 assorted weapons were recovered and 38 camps destroyed.

He added that 91 illegal refineries were destroyed and many of the suspects fled with various degrees of injury.

“The precursor operations were followed by `Exercise Crocodile Smile’ proper, which was orchestrated and conducted with sequencing and lines of operation to upgrade the skills, expertise and competence of the troops in land and riverside environments,” he said.

“Over 3,000 soldiers were deployed along two axis on land, creeks and the general littoral area of the Niger Delta region, while forward-operating bases were established from where operations were conducted along the creeks and littoral area.”

Attahiru, however, regretted that four soldiers died during the exercise, explaining that three lost their lives in a boat mishap, while one died during cross fire with the militants.

He said the exercise was also used to cement relations with civilians through humanitarian services in neighbouring communities.

“Books, stationeries and generators were donated to some schools while others were given facelift and infrastructure improvement,” he said.

“The effects of these humanitarian programmes were immediately felt in the peaceful and warmth relationship that existed between troops and local communities throughout the exercise period.”

Attahiru said collaboration between the army and other security agencies, including the navy and air force and police, had remained “very emphatic’’.

He revealed that the recent voluntary handover of arms and ammunition by militants and “criminal elements” in Imo and Rivers had direct bearing with the exercise.

“By and large, the exercise was a huge success as those engaging in economic sabotage were stopped during the period, while a number of criminals, militants and economic saboteurs were also arrested,’’ he said.

The operation was largely carried out in Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers, as well as some states within the supervision of 82 Division of the Army.

Niger Delta: Vacate Your Houses, We have Rigged Oil facilities With Explosives – Militant Group Warns Residents

A militant group known as the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, NDGJM, has warned those around major oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta region to vacate their residence because it intends to blow up these facilities soon.
In a statement by its spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja, the militant group said all marked facilities in the region have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated.

According to the group, the detonation was being delayed because of those residing within the environment of the marked facilities.

The statement reads in part, “One more time, we are warning and at the same time appealing to residents around major oil and gas facilities across our region to please evacuate immediately.

“This warning has become necessary because of the fact that we do not wish any of our people, for whom we have taken up this crusade, to become casualties of our campaign.

“All the marked facilities in all the states have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated.

“We are only being slowed down because of the presence of those still living close by. This struggle will only cease when the adversarial Nigerian system yields to reason.”

Negotiations Yet to Commence, Niger Delta Militants Are Confused and Disorganized --- NNPC

Following the recent report which was made known to public that Niger Delta Militant are ready to dialogue with the Federal Government, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has declared that militants are confused and disorganized.

This was as indications emerged that government is yet to commence negotiation with the various militant groups over their inability to organize themselves.

Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Mohammed Garba-Deen, ‎explained that the confusion had made government officials more cautious, stressing that the government was taking its time not to negotiate with the wrong group, Punch report.

According to Garba-Deen, “There is no confusion on the part of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources. If anybody is confused, it is the militants that are confused because they are disorganised. They have refused to organise themselves into one, instead they have NDA, MEND and many others.

“So under this circumstance, the petroleum ministry is taking its time so that it does not negotiate with the wrong people. And that is not confusion. That is caution. The situation is causing concern and not confusion on our side, because we will like a situation where a credible and authentic group emerges.

“And whichever group emerges, it should have all the backing of those making agitations in the Niger Delta. So it is therefore important to state that we are not confused but cautious, because from all indications, the confusion is on the part of the militants from the region.”

See What Nigerian Army is Doing to Stop the Niger Delta Militants (PHOTOS)

The Nigerian army has released photos of the soldiers who are training for the exercise code-named “Crocodile Smile” in Niger Delta region.

The training, which was launched last month, is aimed at training Special Forces and other units of the Nigerian military in Amphibious and Internal Security Operations in riverine environment and also check criminal activities like abducting, militancy and piracy and other forms of criminal activities in support of the civil authority.

The majority of Nigeria’s oil is focused in the Niger Delta region. Militant groups including the Niger Delta Avengers have periodically appeared and demanded a fairer share of the country’s oil wealth for poor communities in the region. The federal government has claimed it is talking with the militants while the Avengers continue blowing gas and oil facilities reducing Nigeria’s oil production.

We Have Videos, Pictorial Evidence and Records of Soldiers Who are Involved in Crude Oil Theft.--- Avengers Claims

Niger Delta Avengers

The Niger Delta Avengers group has accused Military officers sent to forestall law and order in the oil rich region of engaging in oil bunkering.

This is as the group alleged that they have video, pictorial evidence and records of soldiers’ involvement in crude oil theft.

Avengers in a statement release by its spokesman, Gen Mudoch Agbinibo yesterday, said it had records of what soldiers collect and make per day from illegal oil bunkering.

The group also dismissed reports linking its members to the killing of four soldiers in Nembe, Bayelsa State.

Wondering why the military always connect them to crimes, Avengers said, “It is a shame that Operations Delta Safe is still employing the old habit of deliberately dining and wining with fake intelligence from political thugs, political paymasters and enemies of the Niger Delta to perpetuate their continuous funding and relevance by leveraging on the hunger in the land.

“One question for the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, is, who are the people perpetuating the ongoing illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta at the moment? We have both video and still photographs of the serious involvement of your troops in the pervasive crude oil thefts. We have records of how much profit you collect and make per day from these atrocities in the Niger Delta.

“To set the records straight, we cannot come after your dane guns and ammunition. Since the start of ‘Operation Red Economy,’ our forces have not fired one shot until we have achieved this great success of crippling crude oil productions in the Niger Delta to about 800,000 barrels per day.

“Those gang members paraded as killers of troops of ODS are well known followers of Mr. Africa Ukparasai and Mr Timipre Silva, who were armed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the governorship election in Bayelsa State.

“If your forces and formations come under attack by notorious elements of your own political collaborators and calculations, you should accept it as a friendly fire (from your own dubious creations getting loosed and fighting back to protect their territories and bellies) and enjoy it while it last. Excuse the NDA from your “Pig and Mud squabbles.
