Governor Akiwnmi Ambode of Lagos has appointed 12 committees for Lagos 50th Anniversary that will be celebrated in the state next year.
He announced that the choice of Nobel Laureate and elder statesman, Professor Wole Soyinka as the head of the committee was appropriate as he would be able to carry out the assignment as efficiently as possible.

Other members of the committee are Mr. Rasheed Gbadamosi who is co-chairman ;Hon. Habeeb Fasinro ;Chief Olawale Cole ;Mrs. Sarah Boulos; Mrs. Abimbola OBafunwa; Prof. (Mrs) Senapon Bakare; Mrs. Chika Balogun ; Mr. Folarin Coker ;Prof. Ademola Abass ;Bolanle Austen-Peters and Mrs Olufunmilayo Balogun.
Ambode said that he was grateful to God that Soyinka agreed to serve in the committee, adding that their responsibility would be, among other things, to develop a comprehensive framework for the event.
