President Buhari has called on the
Niger Delta militants to stop their confrontation and come to terms with the
government instead
President
Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of State for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu met with the
Royal Dutch Shell Group team at the State House on Friday, May 20.
Discussion
was Titled: Insurgency in the Niger Delta area as well as oil companies
presence and future plans.
During the
meeting the president once again urged the militant groups, aggrieved persons
and communities to drop weapons and sit down at the negotiating table primarily
for the review of the Amnesty Programme initiated by the Yar’Adua
administration.
PMB said:“We have to be very serious with the situation in the Niger Delta because it threatens the national economy. I assure you that everything possible will be done to protect personnel and oil assets in the region”
