A coalition of media and civil society organisations has dragged the immediate past Chairman of the House of Reps appropriation Committee, Hon Abdulmumunu Jibrin, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over the controversy surrounding the alleged padding of the 2016 budget.

to distribute sachet water at Bodija area of Ibadan, Oyo State, barely 24 hours
after he was employed.
According to Oyo State CP, Addressing Jimoh as a thief that he has the intention to steal “When he applied for the job, he gave his name as Saheed Popoola and said that he was an indigene of Eruwa town in Ibarapa area of the state. However after his arrest, it was discovered that his real name was Jimoh Taoreed and he hailed from Irawo Owode in Atisbo Local Government Area”
Taoreed and his assistant, a motor boy, on the day he absconded with his company bus, had gone to distribute bags of sachet water to buyers on June 30th but after carrying out the task, he deceived his assistant by telling him that he wanted to withdraw money from a bank in another location at same Bodija area. After he parked the vehicle, the unsuspecting conductor also alighted to transact business in another bank, but before his return, Taoreed drove the vehicle to an unknown place and was not seen again until his arrest, Oyebade stated further. Jimoh was arrest and the vehicle was recovered at Irawo Owode.
On recovery of the vehicle,Jimoh had removed the inscription that was originally on it and replaced it with Oga Nla which means Big Boss.

“About three weeks
ago, while distributing bags of water to customers, a spirit pushed me to drive
the vehicle away. The thought was countered by another spirit which told me not
to do it. But at the end, I obeyed the first one that urged me to steal the
vehicle. I left the person who was distributing the water bags and drove the
van to my village. I went to pay for a bold sticker reading ‘Oga Nla’ (Big
boss) and posted it on the van. Unfortunately for me, I was traced to my
village and arrested. I was suspected by my family members that I stole the
vehicle. I believe they were the ones who informed the police. I admit that my
act is of the devil and I promise not to do so again.”
14 Arrested For Stealing Public School Computers
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dolapo Badmos of
the Lagos State Command, on Sunday said that the police had arrested 14
suspected criminals who allegedly stole computers at a public school in
Shomolu.
Badmos, the Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO) of the command, who spoke with newsmen added that the suspects were
arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
She said that items recovered from them include:
seven computers accessories, four mini-laptops, a LaserJet scanner, a desktop
and a printer, all belonging to the school.
Kogi PrisonBreak: 6 Prisoners Re-Arrested
The General Director of the Prison, Ja’afaru Ahmed, has
announced that six out of the 13 prisoners that escaped from the Koton-Karfe
prison in Kogi State have been rearrested.
Ahmed noted that the six pre-trial detainees were recaptured
with the assistance of other security agencies and local vigilante groups.
He said they had been returned to the prison.
The CGP made this announcement when he visited the
Koton-Karfe prison on an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
A statement on Sunday by the Prison Service spokesman,
Francis Enobore quoted the CGP as confirming that 13 inmates escaped from the
prison on Saturday, comprising 10 pre-trial detainees and three convicts.
He assured that appropriate measures were being put in place
to address congestion in prisons, particularly among awaiting trial prisoners
in line with the reform agenda of the Federal Government.

JAMB Withdraws All 2016 Admission Lists Sent to Universities
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has withdrawn the list of recommended candidates for admission earlier sent to universities and other tertiary institutions, it said in a statement on Sunday.
A statement by JAMB's head of media, Fabian Benjamin, reads:
“This is to ensure that the University Senate perform its statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Hon Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting.
“The earlier list was sent to help fast track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of institutions also conduct their admission.
“Candidates should not panic because this is part of the process of the 2016 admission exercise. JAMB regrets any inconvenience this decision would have caused the tertiary institutions

at the Koton Karfe Medium Security Prison in Kogi State resulted to 3 prisoners
escape. The incident happened at about 7.10am yesterday. About 13 inmates are
said to have broken their cells and escaped through the fence.

when he went to gather woods from the forest on 24th July.
He told his family about the snake bites when he returned to

According to spokesman of the police in Enugu State, SP Ebere Amaraizu, Ezinne blamed her bosom friend for tricking her into selling off her baby.

Nigerian businessman beaten to death in South Africa

Nigerian businessman was beaten to death in Limpopo Province of South
Africa, the Nigeria Union in the country confirmed on Wednesday.
Mr Collins Mgbo, Secretary of the
Union`s chapter in Limpopo, said that Ikejiaku Chinedu, 35, was killed
by guards of a private security firm at about 8.00 p.m on Tuesday.
He said that the deceased was an indigene of Ogwa, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo and married with three children.

products.

was a shootout on Tuesday between hoodlums and some officers attached to the
Federal Operations Zone A, Ikeja, of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, at
