A chieftain of the All progressive congress, Mr Osita
Okechukwu, has stated that Pres. Muhammad Buhari and Nigerians in general will
eventually be the greatest beneficiaries of the budget padding scandal
currently rocking the House of Representatives.
The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, stated
this in Imo State, while fielding questions from newsmen at the burial of the
former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abuja council, late
Comrade Chuks Ehirim.
While pointing out that the president had earlier raised the
alarm over the budget he presented to the National Assembly and what was
returned back to him for approval, he argued that if the allegations of budget
padding against the Speaker by the former chairman of the House Committee on
Appropriations were properly handled, it would end many years of such criminal
acts.
“Let me start by saying that on the budget padding
allegation, it is the Nigerian people, the president, Muhammad Buhari and our
party at the national level that would be the greatest beneficiaries of the
row,” he said.
The former spokesman of the South-East APC however cautioned
the leadership of the ruling party not to treat the allegation as a family
affair, stating that such issues which were treated in the past as family
affair brought the country to its knees.
