The Rivers State Police Command has paraded over thirty three suspected
criminals terrorizing residents in different parts of the state.
Those paraded included fifteen suspected cultists, four suspected
kidnappers who descend on their victims using military uniform, fourteen
suspected armed robbers, as well as six teenagers who watch ATM customers idly
and rob them after any transaction.
The command during the parade, also displayed sophisticated weapons and
assorted charms used by the suspects to carry out their operation.
Commissioner of Police in Rivers state, Francis Odesanya while parading
the suspects, assured that the command under his watch “will not tolerate the
illegal arrest and detention of innocent members of the public, but will be
committed in the fight against crime and criminality in Rivers state. ”
However, on the sideline of a stakeholders meeting organised by the
Police in Rivers state, Odesanya said he would not relent from tackling
insecurity in the state.
He informed the gathering of the new strategy adopted by the police,
which is stop and search operation.
The Police boss said the strategy had yielded result leading to the
recovery of illegal arms and ammunition and arrest of suspected criminals.
