According to Punch Metro, the suspect was arrested by security
operatives in his farm after he murdered his wife and child whose bodies were
found in a primary school, a few metres from their residence in Mpape in
October, 2016.
It was gathered that the police authorities were considering taking
Ogah for mental evaluation following his conflicting and inconsistent
explanations on the circumstances that led to the murder of his family.
Police sources said detectives were working on the theory that an
outsider could not have killed the victims and then dump their corpses in a
public place.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Northern City News, in Abuja,
the suspect, could not give a coherent explanation about the death of his wife
and daughter, as he failed to answer several questions put to him and merely
stared into space.
Also speaking, a police officer who is familiar with the investigation
into the murder, said Ogah was alleged to have killed someone in Ibadan, Oyo
State in a similar circumstance some years ago.
The detective said Ogah’s sister informed the police that the suspect
was mentally ill, adding that he had been treated at a psychiatric hospital.
“The suspect’s sister informed us that Ogah committed a similar crime
when he was living in Ibadan sometime ago. She explained that he was taken to a
psychiatric hospital after the incident and when they felt he had recovered, he
was released. So, we may have to take him to a psychiatric hospital to know his
mental state,” the police officer said.
