The Federal Government has
donated sports equipment to over 50 public primary schools in Ogun State.
The equipment were presented
to the state government by the National
Lottery Trust Fund on Tuesday at the MKO
Stadium, Abeokuta.
They included handball, basketball, football,
volleyball, table tennis, athletics, badminton and taekwando equipment.
The chief executive of the
NLTF, Ahmed Gumel, who handed
over the equipment to the Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs.
Yetunde Onanuga, who represented Governor Ibikunke Amosun, said they were purchased from funds realised
from the national lottery.
He said Section 40(a) of
the National Lottery Act 2005 empowers
the body to use proceeds from all
national lottery operations for good projects in
the country.
Gumel said President
Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the development of grassroots sports in the
country, hence the Federal Government decided to equip public primary schools with sports equipment
Amosun commended the
Federal Government for the equipment, saying the items would help the state to
discover more talents in the state.
