NANS Berates Mysteriously Compensation Given To Oyo Workers & Pensioners Has Christmas Bonus

*National Association Of Nigerian Students against the mysteriously compensate that Gov. Abiola Ajimobi gave to over 600 workers & 2,000 pensioners of Oyo State this yuletide season*

*Ajimobi adds to Oyo state Recession Distress*

*Waec results and Names were not verified Before Actions Were Taken*

*Labour law was Violated*

*Crime Rate expected to Increase and Productivity Greatly Reduced *

Yuletide moments should have been a year of celebration for state civil and public service workers and citizens of a country as the government is expected to put smile on the face of their people, various state workers are in the festive mood now because of the various activities put in place by their state government, which is expected to increase the productivity of the workers in coming years.

But reverse has been the case of Oyo state workers as their Executive Governor gave a glaring wrong present to it’s worker as a compensation for their services render towards the state economical development. As six hundred and sixty two (662) workers and removed two thousand, and twenty one (2021) fictitious names of workers and pensioners from its payroll.

The workers were sacked for allegedly forging waec certificate, this accusation against workers have not been confirmed, this is a violation of human right and a threat to the remaining workers in service, subsequently the two thousand and twenty one members whose names where alleged fictitious, as not been asked to come for verification before they were been removed from its pay roll.

Against all odd is respect to labour law Sec. 9, Sub.Sec 7c, “a contract shall be terminated by notice in accordance with section 11 of this act or in any other way in which a contract is legally terminable or held to be terminated”.

All hands need to be on deck and all voice need project this word, as This has increase will greatly affect the dependency ratio of the state as the unemployment rate will increase, and an overpopulated labour market.

This is a violation of human right and could lead to civil violence in the state, high crime rate and low productivity. Despite the fact that we against ghost workers or forging of certificates, Evidence to authenticate the said allegation should have been the first approach.

As part of our manifestos to stand for the Students and Workers at large.

OUR STANDS:
We call on the state government as a matter of urgency do the needful to reduce poverty in the state, request for verification of result and make the names of the fictitious pensioners published so that affected people can made clarifications to avoid hurting innocent workers and pensioners.
