The Chairman, Ogun Teaching Service
Commission, Mrs Olabosipo Ogunsan, on Friday said the commission had proposed
to employ 1,000 teachers into the various secondary schools in the state.
Mrs. Ogunsan said this while defending the 2017 budget proposal
of the commission before the Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Finance and
Appropriation at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta.
She said the commission had equally proposed to employ 200
non-teaching staff in order to ensure the success of the free and qualitative
education programme in the state.
According to her, the commission would also train and retrain
teaching and non-teaching staff for effective service delivery in view of its
goal to provide more suitable environment for teaching, research and skill
acquisition.
She said the commission would intensify efforts at strengthening
supervision of quality assurance of staff.
Mrs. Ogunsan said TESCOM would embark on rehabilitation and
repairs of 22 Zonal Offices to enhance its statutory operation, adding that it
would also maximise the quality level of teaching through professionalism.
She also said the
commission had earmarked N21 billion as its recurrent expenditure, while N78
million would be for capital expenditure.
