#Ogun2019: GNI, Paseda May Run Joint Ticket

A strong indication has emerged that the two governorship  candidates in 2015 general election in Ogun state on the platform of the People's Democratic Party and Unity Party of Nigeria , Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka and Prince Rotimi Paseda might have begun moves to run a joint ticket in the 2019 governorship election in the state.

Gboyega Nasir Isiaka who is popularly known as GNI was said to have become a bride to Paseda in the recent times, the gesture many political observers have described as a signal of a big plan for the 2019 election.

Though the duo belong to different political parties,  they seem to have jettisoned their political differences and have been romancing politically  with each other.

Isiaka had contested twice for governorship on the platform of PDP in the state and lost,  but, the indication showed that he was still interested in the most coveted seat in the state.

Paseda who has just contested for governorship seat in the last election was said to be a financier of the Unity Party of Nigeria in the state.

The extent of their relationship became public recently when Paseda told a gathering that  Isiaka won the last governorship election but was deprived by the ruling All Progressives Congress .

He was also quoted to have said that he might step down as governorship candidate  for Isiaka in 2019 if his party fields him again.

While some political watchers are of the opinion that,  Isiaka might emerge as the next governor in his third attempts like President Muhammadu Buhari who became President of the country after his fourth attempts to become President.

When contacted the media aide to Isiaka,  Mr. Wale Junaid said " Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka is always ready to work with any progressive minded person but for now nobody can determine that but GNI is an open minded person to every progressive minded person. 

"It is part of GNI to be warm with anyone especially when he or she is from Ogun state and when he has something to put on the table especially with impeccable character.

"Because of the affection Paseda has for GNI since he came into the state has caused GNI too to always reciprocate his gesture, honestly, this has been happening because  GNI is an open minded person".

When he was contacted for his view on the issue, one of the media aides to Paseda,  Michael Ogunsiji , denied the plan,  saying  there was no alignment  between his boss and Isiaka.

He said "here is no alignment between Otunba Rotimi Paseda and Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka beyond friendship and business.

"Paseda's Political ideology is all embracing that allows him to relate with everybody irrespective of political affiliation, I am telling you Paseda remains a UPN leader in Nigeria who welcomes everyone to the Party ". 

Meanwhile, an confirmed  report indicated that the Labour Party might be one of the veritable tools for the plan as the leadership of the party seems to be home with Isiaka.

It was also gathered that, the failure to achieve the aim with the Labour Party might prompt the use of the nascent UPN which is pliable to Paseda ambition.

Also, a reliable source has hinted our reporter that,  the All Progressives Congress is in dilemma over a credible governorship candidate for the 2019 election.

Though the governor was said to have settled for few personalities in Ogun West Senatorial district, the recent happenings were said to have forced the governor to have a change of plan.

It was gathered that those people he had settled down with were later discovered to be paper weight who might have the political will to slug it out with GNI in the region as almost all the prominent political parties seem to have settled for the region as the place to take the candidates for governorship seat in 2019 election.
