Two men
identified as Odeyinka Monsuru, 32, and Audu Michaeal, 23, have been arraigned
before an Ogun state magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta for allegedly
beating two policemen.
The suspects, who pleaded not guilty, were accused of
beating one Sgt. Ajayi Clement and Corporal Eze Victor and also prevented them
from arresting some suspects who were allegedly fighting at Saje junction in
Abeokuta north local government area of the state.
The prosecutor, Sunday Egbejiale told the court that
the suspects were charged on a five-count charge ranging from felony to
assault, conspiracy and breach of peace.
Egbejiele added that the suspects committed the crime
which is contrary to and punishable under section 356(2) of criminal code vol.1
laws of Ogun state Nigeria 2006.
The presiding magistrate, O.A Sofowora granted the
accused bail of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250, 000) each with two
sureties.
Sofowora however, adjourned the case till 28th of
December, 2016 for further hearing.
