A man identified as Matthew Oguntade, 26, has
been arrested by the Ogun police command for allegedly killing his wife, Mary
after she refused to give him sex.
The crime incident happens behind Anglican Church,
Owode-Ijako on Friday, 13th of January, 2017 between 7: pm and 9:30pm.
Matthew Oguntade was said to have called his wife on phone
to come and collect N1, 000 to use it to prepare food for the family.
It was gathered that
as the late wife entered the room, the husband grabbed her and attempted to
forcefully have carnal knowledge of his run-away wife.
It was gathered that
Oguntade got infuriated following the refusal of his twenty-year old wife
to allow him have carnal knowledge of her.
In the process of the
struggle to have sex with his wife, it was learnt that, the husband unknowingly
strangled his wife to death.
Further findings
revealed that the couple had married for one and half years and the union
was blessed with one child , christened David.
It was reliably
gathered that the wife had stopped living together with her husband because
they live in the husband's mother house which the wife disliked.
The late wife was
reported to have been going to her Church, Cherubim and Seraphim around the area
every night to sleep to protest living with her husband in his mother's house.
The husband was said
to have thrown out the remains of his wife out through the window and bolted
away
Confirming the
incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the
incident occurred when the couple engaged in fighting due to a minor
disagreement between them.
According to Oyeyemi,
the CDA Chairman of the Community, Iskilu Kareem who reported the case to the
Police said that he received a telephone call from one of the vigilante groups
in the area that the couple is into serious scuffle, but before he could get to
their house, the husband had strangled his wife to death, threw the body
outside through their window and ran away.
"The DPO Sango Ota,
SP Akinsola Ogunwale led detectives to the scene and took the corpse to
General Hospital, Ifo morgue before launching serious manhunt for the suspect.
"Their efforts
paid off the following day when the suspect was apprehended and taken to
custody.
"The Commissioner
of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that suspect be transferred to
Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department Eleweran Abeokuta for discrete investigation.
"He therefore
appealed to members of the Public to always alert Police whenever their
neighbour is engaging in fistcuff in order to avert this type of ugly
incidence".
